Newark Man Arrested on Fraudulent Prescription Charges

The following arrest information was supplied by the Butler Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 32-year-old Newark man was arrested on charges of attempting to pass a fraudulent prescription and forgery after said he allegedly gave a pharmacist at Wayne Pharmacy a fraudulent prescription on Friday.

Mustafa Matthews was arrested and turned over to the Wanaque Police Department for a warrant for his arrest totaling $10,000 in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Acting Lt. Michael Moeller responded to Wayne Pharmacy at 1:41 p.m. where a representative of the pharmacy alleged that Matthews was attempting to pass a false prescription. Matthews allegedly claimed he had no knowledge that the prescription was counterfeit.

Police said they confirmed the allegedly fraudulent prescription with a physician and Matthews was arrested.
