The fire required backup from the fire departments of multiple towns including Kinnelon, Butler and West Milford on Sunday morning, according to . Chief Jim Bosch.

The Riverdale Fire Department provided mutual aid by covering the Bloomingdale Fire Department for the duration of the fire, Bosch said.

The Kinnelon Fire Co. reported that they received a call at 5:46 a.m., and arrived by 6 a.m. The department brought a rapid intervention crew and a tanker to supply water. West Milford also brought a tanker to supply water.

By the time the Kinnelon volunteers responded, the majority of the fire was quelled, but Bosch was told by the Bloomingdale Fire Department that when they arrived, half of the house was involved in the fire.

By 8 a.m., the fire was completely extinguished and each of the fire departments were on their way home, Bosch said.
