Operation TakeBack Comes to Butler April 27
Law enforcement encourages people to turn in expired and unwanted medications so they don't fall into the wrong hands.
In conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, the New Jersey National Guard and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, the Butler Police Department will host “Operation TakeBack.” The campaign will focus on the safe and anonymous collection of unwanted and/or expired medicine and seeks to educate residents about the dangers of prescription drug abuse and the easy accessibility of these drugs.
On Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Borough of Butler Police Department will be open to allow the public to get rid of unused, unwanted and expired medicine. Law enforcement officials will take the substances in a safe and non-hazardous manner, preventing these medications from falling into the wrong hands or into the hands of criminals who might market them to children or other people.
Citizens are encouraged to drop off any medications that they no longer want. Th process, organizers said.
In order to make collections more convenient, a drive-up drop-off point will be established at police headquarters.
