Police Find White Rock, Heroin in Vehicle

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kinnelon Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Franklin woman and Highland Lakes man were arrested on drug charges in Kinnelon Sunday after police said they were found to be in possession of eight decks of heroin, a hypodermic needle and a white rock believed to be cocaine in a car on Route 23 North.

Courtney R. Shauger, 20, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a summons for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle while William J. Altamura, 24, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and was sent to the Denville Police Department on a $600 warrant.

According to Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg stopped the 1991 Oldsmobile Shauger was driving on Route 23 for allegedly having a broken tail light. Police said that while speaking with Shauger, they noticed Altamura to be acting nervous.

Police said they then discovered the warrant out for Altamura’s arrest from Denville, and that while being arrested, Altamura told police there may be drugs in the vehicle.

Police searched the vehicle with Shauger’s permission and allegedly found the drugs.

Both were arrested and transported to the police station. Shauger was released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date and Altamura was transported to the Denville Police Department.
