Police: Man Used False Name to Get Prescriptions

A 31-year-old Elizabeth man was charged with attempting to obtain a prescription by fraud and hindering apprehension by supplying false information to law enforcement Sunday after police said he used false information to obtain prescriptions at The man was later discovered to have several warrants out for his arrest.

said they received a complaint from the pharmacy, located on Route 23 South in the Meadtown Shopping Plaza, around 1:45 p.m. that a man who was in the store was trying to receive a prescription under a false name. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the man’s true identity to be Khayree S. Callender, despite giving police false information during the investigation, police said.

Police said after checking Callender’s records, they found that he had several warrants out for his arrest, including one from the U.S. Marshall’s Service for violation of probation; one from Linden Municipal Court for $400; one from Union Municipal Court for $500; and one from Essex County Superior Court with no bail option.

Callender was arrested and sent to the Morris County Correctional Facility to await several court appearances.
