Police Respond to Hazmat Spill in Butler

Road was closed for about an hour with traffic directed around spill.

responded to a reported hazardous material spill at the intersection of South Gifford Avenue and Elm Street on Thursday morning.

Police said they responded around 8:39 a.m. and upon arrival, they noticed that a Suburban Disposal recycling truck had one of its hydraulic hoses burst, causing hydraulic fluid to spill onto the road.

Police shut down the road for about an hour, directing traffic around the spill. The Butler Fire Department also responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported as a result of the spill, police said.
