Police Warn of Female Falsely Claiming to Collect BASS Donations

Debow Terrace resident said solicitor ran after being confronted.

are encouraging residents not to donate to solicitors for charities they are not familiar with after a young female recently claimed to be soliciting on behalf of the , an organization that does not solicit door-to-door.

Police received a call Sunday after a Debow Terrace resident said a young, Caucasian female in her early 20’s wearing a gray Stockton College sweatshirt, skinny jeans and UGG boots came to their door soliciting funds for BASS. Police said the female indicated she was a representative of the organization and that she may have been accompanied by two other young females driving a silver four-door Nissan or Toyota.

The resident contacted the BASS main office and was told the organization does not send solicitors to resident’s doors, at which point she confronted the female.

Police said the female then fled the area on foot.

Police are asking anyone with information on this incident or anyone who deems a solicitation as suspicious to contact them at 973-838-4100.
