Police: Windows Smashed, Items Taken From Vehicles

Bloomingdale PD warn residents and hikers after recent car burglaries on Glenwild Avenue.

The is warning residents and people hiking in Norvin Green State Forest to be cautious with belongings in motor vehicles as several car burglaries have been reported on Glenwild Avenue.

According to police, Sgt. Mark Gildersleeve responded to a reported car burglary on Sunday at on Glenwild Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. After returning from hiking in the forest, the car owner found the vehicle's window broken and an iPod stolen from inside, police said.

Police said about an hour and a half later, Sgt. Robert Ressland responded to a similar incident where a car was parked in a different location and also had a window broken while the owner was on the trails in the forest. Police said a number of items were reported stolen from the vehicle.

On Monday at 5:45 p.m., Ptl. Steven Smith responded to a third similar incident. In the same area of Glenwild Avenue, a vehicle's window was broken and several items were reported stolen.

The New Jersey State Park Police has been notified of the incidents, but Bloomingdale police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 973-838-0158.
