Popular Snack Stand Owner Busted With Pot

Police said 53-year-old allegedly threw something out of car window when asked to stop vehicle.

Fifty-three-year-old Greg Kassar was charged with marijuana possession by Kinnelon police on June 1.

In addition to the possession charges, Kassar, who at several tri-boro fields, was charged with use of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to exhibit documents after he was arrested on June 1.

According to , Kassar was driving a 2007 Honda on Kakeout Road around 4:52 p.m. through a Click It or Ticket detail when he was asked to stop for allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. Police also said that after Ptl. Rickey Ferriola told Kassar to stop the vehicle, he allegedly observed him throw something from the car window.

Ferriola approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and police said Kassar opened the window, at which point Ferriola allegedly immediately smelled the odor of burnt marijuana and Kassar showed signs of recent marijuana use. Police said a search of Kassar’s vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana in the ashtray and center front console of the car.

Kassar was arrested and charged. He was transported to the Kinnelon police station and later released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
