Prosecutor: Police Handling Hit-and-Run Probe

Butler resident listed in critical, but stable condition.

Hudson County Prosecutor Edward De Fazio said his office is not involved in the investigation into a hit-and-run accident in North Bergen Friday that sent a 42-year-old resident to the hospital.

The victim, Omar Monroig, remains hospitalized at Hackensack University Medical Center in critical but stable condition, according to the Suburban Trends.

Suburban Trends reported that the accident occurred Friday night when Monroig was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured while walking across Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen. The impact of the vehicle, which allegedly left the scene of the accident, propelled the Butler man more than 100 feet, police told Suburban Trends.
