Riverdale Man Charged With Burglary of Liquor Store

Investigation showed man allegedly forcibly damaged entry doors at Turnpike Liquors in Bloomingdale.

A 25-year-old Riverdale man was charged with third degree burglary and criminal mischief after police said he was allegedly responsible for a burglary at , 139 Hamburg Turnpike, in Bloomingdale.

Joseph Demauex was arrested on Thursday.

According to , police responded to Turnpike Liquors to investigate the burglary and determined that the burglary occurred at about 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 6. Sgt. Mark Johnson and Ptl. David Terpstra noticed that the entrance doors of the building were forcibly damaged, police said.

The detective bureau began an investigation and executed a search warrant on Tuesday of a vehicle, a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by Demauex. Police were able to determine that the vehicle was allegedly being operated by Demauex during the burglary. Police said they found evidence from the burglary in the car, as well as items from additional crimes committed.

Police notified other agencies and said other charges, including burglary and theft, could be forthcoming from those agencies.

Demauex's bail was set at $50,000, though police said he is currently incarcerated and awaiting future court appearances.
