Speeding Bronx Driver Stopped on Route 23

Police said marijuana was found in car.

A Bronx driver was stopped on Route 23 North for driving 50 miles over the posted speed limit in Kinnelon Friday, his passenger allegedly found to have marijuana in the vehicle.

Thomas D. Healy, 21, was issued a summons for speeding while his passenger, Shannon Bird, 21, also of the Bronx, was charged with possession of marijuana.

According to police, Healy was driving a 2009 Mitsubishi when he was stopped. While police spoke to Healy, they allegedly noticed marijuana on the floor of the rear passenger seat of the vehicle.

Police said Healy agreed to step out of the car, as well as Bird, who was sitting in the seat where the marijuana was seen. Bid told police the marijuana was hers.

Bird was arrested and transported to the police station. Both were issued tickets to appear in court at a later date.
