State Police: Luxury Car Caravan Police Escort Could Be Practiced

Escort that resulted in Bloomingdale trooper's suspension was apparently not applied for.

A state police escort of several luxury sports cars down the Garden State Parkway last month that resulted in the suspension of a Bloomingdale state trooper Monday may not have been an unusual practice, according to an Associated Press story featured on North Jersey.com.

However top state police officials are discussing the incident which was captured on video by motorists and resulted in of Trooper Joseph Ventrella, of Bloomingdale, and Sgt. 1st Class Nadir Nassry of Phillipsburg, as they said no escort applications were filed. The state Attorney General's Office annouced the suspensions Monday.

According to the Associated Press story, state police do escorts for other agencies throughout the year and it is possible that an escort could have been done for luxury sports cars. Police said all state laws are expected to be followed during approved escorts, although the drivers of the vehicles in the March incident are being accused of driving in excess of 100 mph.
