Stolen Vehicle Found at Sabey's Beach

Police said homeowner was away when vehicle was allegedly stolen from Alize Drive.

A vehicle that was reported stolen from an Alize Drive residence last Monday was later found at Sabey’s Beach, in the Fayson Lakes community of Kinnelon.

According to , the owner of the vehicle had reported at 12:46 p.m. that he and his family were away for three days and that upon returning, their 1997 Ford Explorer was missing.

Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg received a call at 2:32 p.m. that day that a suspicious vehicle had been parked at the beach and was left unattended for a period of time. Ptl. Ehrenburg determined that this was the same vehicle as the one that was allegedly stolen from Alize Drive.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Kinnelon Police Detective Bureau at 973-838-5400.

Three 17-year-old Kinnelon females were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a suspicious motor vehicle complaint on Banta Road Wednesday.

Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg arrived at the scene at 11:40 p.m. where he shined his spot light on the vehicle, a 2010 Honda parked in the cul-de-sac, and observed a large cloud of smoke and at least two people in the front seat allegedly duck down.

Police said he approached the vehicle and immediately smelled burning marijuana. The three females were identified and arrested. Police said Ptl. Ehrenburg also allegedly discovered two pipes with marijuana in them, a bag of marijuana and a pack of rolling papers in the vehicle.

All three were released to their parents.
