Student Charged, Probe Continues Into Kinnelon High Girls Locker Room Thefts

A female student was arrested this week after police caught her stealing from other students' purses, report said.

One student has been arrested and the investigation continues into a series of thefts from the girls locker room at Kinnelon High School.

A juvenile female student was charged Monday after police discovered she stolen money from students' purses in the locker room, according to a police report.

High school officials told police that several hundred dollars and property were missing from multiple purses in the last several weeks, police said.

Detective set up a sting operation and on Monday discovered money was stolen by a female student, police said. The girl entered the locker room during classes and stole money from two bags, police said. The female had the money on her when she was arrested, police said.

She was charged with two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property and released to her mother.

Since the initial investigation, more money has been stolen and several juveniles have been questioned, police said.
