Two Charged Following Motor Vehicle Stop

Police said friend had outstanding warrant out of Butler.

The friend of a Boonton man who came to pick up his vehicle in Sunday after police discovered his license was suspended was arrested on the scene for a warrant for her arrest out of Wanaque.

Khawaja Mustafa, 23, was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and released with a summons and his friend, Dianely Contreras, 21, of , was arrested and transported to the station where she later posted bail and was released.

According to police, the vehicle Mustafa was driving was stopped at about 1:40 a.m. on Main Street when police allegedly discovered the suspended license.

  • A 22-year-old Newark man was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license after police said the vehicle he was driving slid off the road on Main Street, striking a street lamp and commercial building, before deflecting back in the road and striking a parked car on April 22. Police responded around 1:56 p.m. where police said driver Moses Griffen said he had slid on the wet road. Police said Griffen was uninjured but that the building's front window was smashed and the street lamp was damaged. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
  • Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Glenwild Avenue and Captolene Avenue Thursday where an air bag deployed in one of the vehicles. Police arrived on the scene at about 6:37 p.m. where the driver of one of the vehicles complained of knee pain. responded and transported the driver to Chilton Hospital and the also responded to clean hazardous liquids that had spilled onto the roadway. Police said no summonses were issued but that both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene because of damage.
