Sussex Man Accused of Stealing Money to Buy Porn

Police said man allegedly stole checking information to buy pornography on the Internet.

A 27-year-old Sussex man was arrested Friday and charged with theft after said he allegedly stole a Kinnelon woman’s checking account information to purchase pornography on the Internet.

Matthew S. Ashe was charged with theft of moveable property and identity theft.

Police said a Boonton Avenue resident reported that between May 16 and April 30, someone had taken $1,600 from her checking account, charging multiple times to several Internet websites to purchase pornography. Kinnelon police Det. Patrick McDonnell conducted an investigation and discovered the IP address linked to a Sussex residence.

The victim said she was familiar with residents of the Sussex home and that Ashe was paid to do odd jobs around her home. The victim said she allegedly paid Ashe by personal check.

Police said forensic examinations on computer equipment in the home lead them to charge Ashe.

Ashe was arrested and transported to the Kinnelon police station. He was later released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
