Sussex Man Arrested in Kinnelon on Drug Possession Charges

Police said man allegedly had bag of marijuana and glass pipe.

A Sussex man was arrested in Tuesday and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia after police said they allegedly found a bag of marijuana and a glass pipe with marijuana in his possession.

Bradley W. Davis was a passenger in a vehicle Lisa Maggio, 24, also of Sussex, was driving on Route 23 when police said a computer check showed that she had a suspended driver’s license. Sgt. Christoper Burns stopped the vehicle and told Maggio she would be receiving a summons and asked Davis if he had a valid driver’s license. Police said his license was also suspended and that there was a $300 warrant out for his arrest from Hamburg.

Police then allegedly found a bag of marijuana and a glass pipe in Davis’ possession. He was arrested and transported to the Kinnelon police station. He was released after he posted $300 bail.

Robert Bertoline, 43, of Highland Lakes, was arrested Tuesday after police said he allegedly told them he had lit a marijuana cigarette just before police stopped his vehicle.

He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and he was issued a summons for failure to wear his seatbelt.

According to police, he was driving a 2010 GMC pickup on Boonton Avenue when Pt. Nicholas Cifelli and Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg stopped his vehicle. When talking to Bertoline, police said they immediately smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and that when questioned about the smell, Bertoline handed police a pack of cigarettes. Inside the pack, police allegedly found a burning marijuana cigarette, which Bertoline said he had lit just before being pulled over.

He was arrested and transported to the Kinnelon police station and later released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
