Three Arrested After Hypodermic Needles Found in Car

Police said all three individuals displayed signs of being under the influence of controlled dangerous substances.

Three individuals were arrested in the Monday on drug possession charges after police said they found hypodermic needles and empty bags of heroin in the vehicle they were in.

According to , Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg stopped a vehicle being driven by Michael R. Scully, 31, of Dingman’s Ferry, PA, at 12:06 p.m. on Route 23 North for having a shattered windshield. Police said there were two passengers in the vehicle, Anna C. Maloney, 47, of Hamurg, and Mindi L. Maloney, 22, of Wantage.

Police said Ptl. Ehrenburg allegedly noticed Scully displaying signs of being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Ptl. Ehrenburg asked Scully to exit the car and conducted a pat down search, at which time police said they found two hypodermic needles and a tourniquet on his person. Police said Scully allegedly admitted to using heroin and cocaine.

Police then searched the passengers of the vehicle and allegedly found more needles and empty packages of heroin. Ptl. Ehrenburg also allegedly found a straw in Mindi Maloney’s purse with drug residue in it. Police said all three appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

All three were arrested and transported to the Kinnelon police station.

Scully was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, DWI and having an unsafe windshield. Mindi was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Anna was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. All three were released with tickets to appear in court at a later date.

Twenty-one-year-old Andrew M. Bogwald was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance after police said he was pulled over on Route 23 for having expired registration.

According to police, Bogwald was stopped at 1:01 a.m. Tuesday while driving a 2006 Volvo. Police said Bogwald allegedly appeared agitated when being questioned by police.

Ptl. Ricky Ferriola, who executed the stop, said he smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Police said Bogwald denied smoking marijuana and gave permission for police to search his vehicle. Ferriola allegedly found a grinder containing marijuana and rolling papers in the vehicle.
Bogwald was arrested and transported to the Kinnelon police station. He was released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date.

Randolph A. Morgan, 41, of Irvington, was arrested and charged with DWI Friday after police said he allegedly was driving erratically on Route 23 at 1:23 a.m.

Police said they received a call of a 2009 Acura driving erratically on Route 23 and Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg positioned himself in the Roserne’s parking lot and observed the driver.

Ptl. Ehrenburg followed the driver and saw him allegedly driving at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of his lane.

The vehicle was stopped and police said Ptl. Ehrenburg noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Morgan’s breath. Police said Morgan also allegedly had slurred speech and answered questions slowly. He was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which police said he failed.

Morgan was arrested and transported to the Kinnelon police station. He was charged with DWI, refusing to submit a breath test, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane. He was issued a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
