Three Arrested With Suspected Heroin in Car

Police said man had small quantity of marijuana.

Four people were arrested on drug charges in separate incidents in Butler last week.

On Sunday, were on routine patrol on Route 23 North at 2:52 p.m. when they noticed a silver Nissan operating with an improper inspection sticker. The vehicle was stopped and police were met with the driver, Monica Snover, 21, of Hewitt. Two passengers were in the vehicle, Jessica Dean, 21, of Hewitt, and Michael Duffy, 24, of Stockholm.

Police said when speaking to Snover, they noticed fresh injuries consistent with recent drug activity on her arm. Police also said Snover was asked to exit the vehicle and police then allegedly found a bundle of glassine bags containing suspected heroin on the driver’s seat. A search of the vehicle also revealed several hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia, police said.

All three were arrested and transported to the Butler police station. Police said they discovered Duffy to have three outstanding warrants for his arrest, one from Montville for $39, one from West Milford for $258 and one from Cedar Grove for $100. In Butler, Duffy was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Duffy’s bail was set at $10,000 with no 10 percent option, which police said he was unable to post, and he was sent to the Morris County Correctional Facility with tickets to appear in court at a later date.

Snover was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of hypodermic needles. Dean was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released in their own recognizance and issued tickets to appear in court at a later date.

On Friday, police observed a beige Honda CRV driving south on Route 23 with an inoperable headlight at about 10:16 p.m. Police pulled over the vehicle and were met with the driver. While the driver was getting together their credentials, police said they noticed an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. The passenger, Mark J. Konzelman, 18, of Woodland Park, was allegedly discovered to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana and several glass smoking pipes.

He was arrested and transported to the Butler police station where he was charged with possession of marijuana 50 grams or less and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released in his own recognizance and issued a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
