Two Arrested on Marijuana Charges in Butler

The following arrest information was supplied by the Butler Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Saddlebrook and Bogota man were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana after police said they were allegedly found to have 50 grams or less of marijuana on them in addition to drug paraphernalia.

According to, Richard Demboske, 20 of Saddlebrook, and Ryan Smith, 23, of Bogota, were found in a vehicle outside Dunkin Donuts on Main Street at about 6:28 p.m. on Monday where police received a report of a disturbance.

Police said a person had reported that a group of people were yelling obscenities at patrons leaving the store. When police arrived on the scene, they found Demboske, Smith and another individual in a vehicle who matched the description of those reported.

While speaking to Smith and Demboske, police said they saw marijuana residue and a marijuana cigarette in the vehicle and later said they discovered two of the vehicle occupants to be in possession of an additional quantity of marijuana.

Demboske and Smith were arrested and transported to the Butler police station. Smith was charged with possession of marijuana 50 grams or less, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to exhibit a valid insurance card. Demboske was charged with possession of marijuana 50 grams or less and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were released in their own recognizance with tickets to appear in court at a later date.
