Two Motor Vehicle Accidents in Bloomingdale Last Week

Bloomingdale police said three were injured in motor vehicle accidents last week.

released information Thursday on two motor vehicle accidents that left several people injured last week.

The first accident happened on March 8, when police said Ptl. Michael Fatzer responded to a motor vehicle accident on Hamburg Turnpike and Elizabeth Street. According to police, the impact of the vehicles pushed them off the roadway and into a retaining wall at a Hamburg Turnpike residence. 

Police said both drivers suffered various head and body injuries and were transported to Chilton Hospital by the Tri-boro First Aid Squad. The also responded to clean up liquids that police said had leaked from the vehicles onto the roadway. Police said the driver of the vehicle that came out of the stop street, whose name was not released, was issued a summons for failing to yield. Police also said Sgt. Ronald Frost and Ptl. Robert Grabowski assisted at the scene.

A second motor vehicle accident happened the following day on March 9, police said, when Ptl. Steven Smith responded to an accident on Hamburg Turnpike and Fichter Street. Police said the driver of a vehicle attempted to make a left turn off of Fichter Street and was struck on the driver's side by a truck traveling west on Hamburg Turnpike.

Police said the driver suffered minor lacerations to the face from shattered glass from the vehicle's windows. Because of the extent of the vehicle damage and the airbags being deployed, police said the driver was transported to Chilton Hospital by the Tri-boro First Aid Squad. The Bloomingdale Fire Department extricated the driver from the vehicle. Police said Sgt. Mark Gildersleeve and Ptl. Daniel Fletcher assisted at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for failing to yield.
