West Milford Man Arrested on Warrants Saturday

Police said man was allegedly unable to present identification.

A 21-year-old West Milford man was arrested on two warrants in on Route 23 South Saturday after police pulled over the vehicle he was a passenger in for allegedly having suspended registration.

The passenger, Richard D. Maiola, was arrested on one warrant out of Ringwood and another out of West Milford totaling $1,700. The owner, Crystal Kennedy, 20, of Ogdensburg, was issued summonses for having suspended registration and failure to produce documentation.

According to police, the vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet, was stopped by Sgt. Christopher Burns at 11:26 a.m. Police said Kennedy told Burns that she knew her registration was suspended and that she was attempting to work it out with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Police said while talking to Kennedy, Burns noticed Maiola was not wearing a seatbelt and when asked to produce identification, he was unable to provide an ID. A records check revealed the warrants, police said.
