Woman Charged With DWI After Allegedly Failing to Stop

Kinnelon police said 47-year-old woman allegedly failed sobriety tests.

A Kinnelon woman was charged with DWI Saturday after initially stopped the vehicle she was driving for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign at the corner of Kakeout Road and Kiel Avenue.

Lynda Colaianni, 47, was charged with careless driving, failure to stop and failure to keep right in addition to the DWI charges.

Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg saw the 2006 Honda allegedly go through the stop sign at 9:07 p.m. and pursued the car, at which point police said they saw the vehicle allegedly swerving in and out of its lane. The vehicle was stopped on Kakeout Road and the driver was identified as Colaianni.

Police said Ptl. Ehrenburg noticed Colaianni having slurred speech and bloodshot, glassy eyes. She was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which police said she failed.

She was transported to the police station and released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
