Police: Woman Found With Butterfly Knife on Route 23

Police said woman had warrant for her arrest out of Little Falls.

A Fairfield woman was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon after found a butterfly knife in her vehicle Monday.

Brielle L. Briggs, 21, was driving a 2000 Jeep on Route 23 when she was stopped by Ptl. Christopher Mucci at 4:10 p.m. Police stopped the vehicle because a registration check showed Briggs’ license to be suspended, police said.

During further investigation, police said they found Briggs to have a warrant out for her arrest our of Little Falls and also found her to be in possession of the butterfly knife.

Briggs was arrested and transported to the Kinnelon police station. In addition to the weapon possession charges, she was charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to change her address on her driver’s license. Briggs was released after posting $350 bail on the Little Falls warrant, police said.
