Bloomingdale Council Eliminates Distance Requirement for Liquor Licenses

Governing body approved change May 28.

Restaurants serving alcohol will no longer be required to be more than 1,000 feet apart from each other due to a new Bloomingdale law.

The council approved an ordinance May 28 eliminating the requirement that businesses possessing retail consumption liquor licenses be 1,000 feet apart.

The six-member council unanimously approved the legislation.

The applicant will have to “establish good cause” to the mayor and Borough Council in order for the minimum distance requirement to be waved, the ordinance states.
