General Election Day Quick Facts: Find Out Where and When to Vote

Nov. 6, 2012 is General Election Day across the United States. Here's some things you need to know before you hit the polls.

Today is the day. The General Ellection will take place today in St. Peters, Missouri and all over the United States. 

Polling places around the city will open bright and early at 6 a.m. for a day full of voting in the election. The race to the white house, a Missouri senate seat and other positions will be filled today. 

Here are some things you should probably know before you hit the polls.

  • The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Before work, after work, during work—it doesn't matter. The polls are open most of the day so you'll have plenty of time to vote. 
  • Polling places are everywhere. Last week a voter registration card should have arrived in the mail telling you where to vote. But really, who holds on to those things? If you're not sure where to vote, check out the polling place locator
  • As a voter, you have rights. It's true. Check out the Voter's Bill of Rights to learn what rights you have. 
  • Know what you're voting on. The St. Charles County Election Authority has a sample ballot featuruing all the races and initivies. Check it out before you go in so you can do some last-minute research.
