Girls Track to be Recognized for Sectionals Triumph

Kinnelon Council to honor team for victory at states.

During Thursday's Kinnelon Council workshop meeting, Mayor Robert Collins announced that the council will formally recognize the outstanding athleticism exhibited by the  during its regular meeting Thursday.

The team's eight top three finishes, which helped them beat competitors Mountain Lakes and Hasbrouck Heights by five points, clinched the North Jersey Group I, Section I state title for Kinnelon.

Collins, in describing the proclamation that will honor the girls' athletic achievement, said, "I thought that it was appropriate because it's a pretty significant event."

The track team will be honored at the borough council meeting at 8 p.m. at the Kinnelon Municipal Building. The borough council will also be honoring three police officers, several Boy Scouts who received their Eagle awards, and the Lakeland Hills YMCA Kinnelon Citizen of the Year award winner,
