Kiel Avenue Safety Questioned by Resident

Council said not much can be done about illegal left turns on to Route 23.

resident Bob Norman is sick of seeing cars make illegal turns from Kiel Avenue on to Route 23. But the Butler Council told him Tuesday there is not much that can be done about it.

According to NorthJersey.com, Norman approached the council about his concerns, but the council advised him that the state owns Route 23 and, as such, cannot make modifications, such as adding a camera, to the traffic light there. However, do regularly patrol in that area in addition to all other areas in the borough.

Norman also approached the council in December on Main Street.

The borough is aware of safety issues in that particular area and to pay for safety measures to the crosswalk, including a new speed countdown meter.
