Kinnelon Clerk Retires After 24 Years

Sebrowski's knowledge, people skills heralded by council.

Thursday night's meeting was bittersweet for council members, who waved goodbye to a long-time employee of the borough.

Borough Clerk Elizabeth Sebrowski is retiring after 24 years of service to the residents of Kinnelon. Several members of the council, and Mayor Bob Collins, had kind words to say about Sebrowski.

“Kinnelon has been well-served by Beth Sebrowski,” Collins said. “She’s part of the character of the borough. She’s seen many changes. I don’t think I’ve ever asked her for a file that she didn’t eventually locate.”

Several council members noted Sebrowski’s efficiency as borough clerk and knowledge of Kinnelon as helping her to be effective over the years.

“We all work to get to that retirement. Congratulations,” Councilman Jim Freda said. “You’re a friend, you’re a good customer and you’re a good clerk. You’ve done everything great, as far as I’m concerned.”

Councilman Gary Moleta said Sebrowski was particularly helpful to him after he was first elected to the council last year.

“As a new councilperson, you provided the foundation for me to assist the residents of this town by giving me the knowledge I needed to know. One thing I know is that you really cared about this town, and that’s really important,” he said.

Councilman Ron Mondello also agreed that Sebrowski’s expertise was a major asset to the borough and one which, he said, was positively compounded with her ability to successfully manage different types of people.

“It can be very, very difficult, as you know, to be a clerk,” Mondello said to Sebrowski. “Sometimes you get caught between personalities, egos and power struggles and you’ve always managed to keep a professional attitude and you’ve helped me tremendously.”
