Kinnelon Election Not a Turf War, Candidate Says

Adam Barish says he is the 'candidate for the independent minded voter.'

An open letter to Kinnelon voters:

I have seen and heard of many hurtful, insulting and misleading accusations made in a bevy of circulating emails.  All of them are from people who don’t know me, what I stand for or my credentials.  These same people have made no attempt to call, mail, email or meet with me at not one, but three opportunities at advertised open houses.

To characterize me a a Collin’s “Yes man” is disingenuous at best.  I did not join the West Orange First Aid Squad at 16 yrs old and get my EMT Certification to be a yes man.  I did not get up at 6am this morning to respond to three fire alarms by 9am because I don’t want turf.  I have not been a Volunteer Firefighter for 15 years in order to be a yes man.  I don’t volunteer as Deputy OEM coordinator and spend days away from my family during events like Sandy to be a yes man.  I don’t give my home, my family, my love to Foster Children to be a yes man.  I have not taken all  my time and effort training 23 residents in First Aid, Basic firefighting, terrorism awareness to create an active, useful Community Emergency Response Team to be a yes man.  I do not own and run two successful businesses by being a yes man.

I am an independent thinker, a leader, a doer.  I put my money, time and passion where my mouth is.  I have lived 19 years in Kinnelon and raised two wonderful adults, both through Kinnelon’s public schools.

I give my time and energy because I want to.  To say this election is about turf now and turf at any cost is shortsighted and foolish.  To listen to others spew misinformation, hatred and mischaracterization of me and my running mate is irresponsible and mean.

I am the candidate for the independent minded voter, not one of the “Sheeple.”  If you share or understand my desire to serve the community and not just live in the community then I am your man.  If you are concerned with school safety, maintaining a level budget while not reducing services, I am your man.  If you want to see your money spent wisely - including adding fields at KRP, I am your man.

You, the voter have the power to think indepently, consider the facts, consider your future and that of your children in Kinnelon.  I wish to be your man and I ask for your vote.
