Kinnelon Launches E-Waste Recycling Program

Borough to make small profit off of recycled electronics.

As of last Saturday, residents can now recycle their used electronics in a designated dumpster at the Kinnelon Department of Public Works (DPW) recycling yard.

"Kinnelon will be accepting all forms of electronic waste free of charge," Mayor Bob Collins said at Thursday's Kinnelon Council meeting.

The electronics accepted include televisions, computers, appliances and more.

In addition to offering the free recycling program to residents, Collins said that the borough will receive 5 cents per pound of recycled computers and 2 cents per pound for all other recycled materials.

Councilman Dan O'Dougherty said that the dumpster was specially designed for input only.
