Kinnelon to Move Forward with Acquisition of World Trade Center Artifact

Mayor Collins to sign an agreement with Port Authority to receive steel artifact from the World Trade Center.

In order to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Kinnelon Borough plans to host a special ceremony on Sept. 11 that will include the dedication of a .

Mayor Bob Collins, who announced his intention to acquire a piece of the Twin Towers in March, has recently entered into an agreement with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

At Thursday's regular borough council meeting, a resolution that would authorize the mayor to sign the agreement with the Port Authority was passed, enabling the borough to move forward with the process of acquisition for the artifact.

Collins stated that he was "hopeful that we will be able to secure the artifact in the next month or two and dedicate it on September 11."
