Republicans Favored Following Uncontested Primary

Results from Tuesday's primary election.

While all three tri-boro council primary races were uncontested, Bloomingdale's Republican candidates were favored, according to the unofficial votes cast in Tuesday's primary election.

Republican incumbent Council President Linda Huntley received 152 votes and Republican Committee Chairman Ron Caputo received 158 votes. Democrat Ray Yazdi received 92 votes and Democrat John D'Amato received 93, according to infomation from the borough clerk's office.

In Kinnelon, which has a total of 7,173 registered voters, incumbent Councilman Gary Moleta received 231 votes while incumbent Councilman Ron Mondello received 204. Both are Republicans. There are two open seats on the Kinnelon Council.

In Butler, which has a total of 4,571 voters, incumbent Republican Councilman Ray Verdonik received 136 votes while council newcomer Republican Sean McNear received 133 votes. There are also two open seats on the Butler Council, one being Verdonik's and the other of Councilwoman Judy Woop, who is not seeking re-election.
