The West Milford resident began his career as a landscaper with his family's company, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and his father. Though he still owns Niosi Landscaping, the new head of the DPW made the jump from the private to the public sector in Bogota after working for the J. Fletcher Creamer & Son contracting company.

"I took the job with the Bogota DPW because it was steadier. I kind of stumbled into this position because a lot of public works is about landscaping," Niosi said.

His desire to get more involved with the DPW eventually led to his appointment as the acting DPW superintendent of Bogota, a position he held for five years.

"I just kept moving up the ladder," Niosi said. "I'm all about doing a good job, keeping the trucks clean, and doing a hard day's work."

Although he has only been in Butler for a short time, Niosi recognizes that there is no shortage of tasks on his to-do list. He plans to tackle maintenance issues around the borough, such as repairing the numerous hydrants that are currently out of service, filling in potholes and cleaning the roads and street signs.

Niosi admitted that there is “a lot to be done” in the area of upkeep, but he is ready for the challenge.

“I like going around town and seeing things that can be changed. I’m ready to make a difference in Butler for the residents," he said. "I have nothing but good intentions for this town.”
