Republicans Take Both Hopatcong Council Seats

BOE president unseated as Lundin, Krowl and Antonelli victorious in school board race.

A pair of Republicans will keep their seats on the Hopatcong Borough Council after winning Tuesday's election, according to unofficial results posted by the Sussex County clerk.

Incumbents Richard Bunce and Marie Galate will be sworn in on Jan. 1 for three-year terms. Bunce received the most votes with 2,704, and Galate was close behind at 2,662.

Bunce and Glate defeated Democrats John Pezzino and Mara Modes. Pezzino received 2,052 votes and Modes received 1,956 votes.

On the Hopatcong Board of Education, incumbents Cliff Lundin and Dolores Krowl, and Judith Antonelli willl fill the three, three-year terms. The candidates defeated Board President Joan Reilly, Quashinna Williams and John H. Maine.

Antonelli received the most votes with 2,531. Lundin received 2,454, and Krowl received 2,066.

Reilly garnered 2,027 votes, while Williams received 1,181, and Maine got 1,655.
