Vreeland, Arnowitz Appointed to Borough Committees

Women sworn in Thursday night.

Carol Vreeland was appointed to Kinnelon's Committee for Sustainable Jersey while Anne Arnowitz was appointed to the Board of Trustees at a Kinnelon Council meeting Thursday.

While introducing Arnowitz, Mayor Bob Collins thanked her for her longtime dedication to the borough and library.

"I feel so fortunate that I was involved in the planning of the new library and the opening of it," Arnowitz told the council.

Arnowitz called the library a "community center" and said that she is hoping her work on the board will help spread awareness about the programs offered there.

"Many people really appreciate it but don't know about it," she said.

Vreeland served on the borough's Environmental Commission and will help spearhead the borough's involvement in the Sustainable Jersey program, a certification program for New Jersey municipalities that hope to demonstrate "green" practices.

"I just would like to thank you all for supporting Sustainable Jersey," Vreeland said. "I think it's going to be great for the town."

Vreeland and Arnowitz were sworn in to their committees Thursday, while other appointees who were unable to attend the meeting will be sworn in at a later date. Those appointees include Nina Mickey and Councilman Gary Moleta to the Committee for Sustainable Jersey and Jeannie Armstrong as an Alternate 2 to the Recreation Commission.
