Water Line Work Disrupts Sunday's Flow

Residents living near Mountain Boulevard find service disrupted Sunday afternoon.

Residents living east of Old Stirling Road near Mountain Boulevard found their water supply being disrupted Sunday, as work crews for New Jersey American Water Company worked to repair a valve on a service line on Mountain Boulevard.

"This work was scheduled for Sunday to avoiding impacting the medical office building nearby," NJ American Water Spokesman Richard Barnes said. He added the company placed notices on many houses near the work area on Friday.

"While we shut down that section of water main, there may have been fluctuations in water pressure for some customers," he said.

All work related to the replacement was done Sunday.

To my knowledge, there were no notices left in Windermere, and many of us lost water during multiple periods of time on Sunday. When Customer Service was initially contacted, they knew nothing of an outage or work going on in the area. During my third call of the day to customer service, they told me that the water would be out until 1 - 3 AM. This was a planned outage, we should have been informed in advance so that we could plan ahead, and NJ American Water Customer Service should have been prepared with information to relay to customers as they called. This was our third water outage since February. I know that our Town Council has been discussing Water Quality and Water Hardness with this company, but they also need to campaign for better customer service.
