What's it Cost to Rent? Average Rates Mapped Out in Tri-Boro

Fayson Lakes rent several hundred dollars less than other parts of Kinnelon.

What does it cost to rent property in Kinnelon? How about Butler?

The differences between rental costs in all three tri-boro towns are not extreme, but can be seen broken down by area as mapped out by the website Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks.

Data used to create the map was compiled with information from the American Community Survey as part of the Census.

A portion of Kinnelon (see map attached) reaches the highest end of the site's scale, with median monthly rent costing $1,693. The statewide middle rental range is between $928 and $1,071.

However, in the Fayson Lakes area of Kinnelon and surrounding neighborhoods, rent averages $1,250.

In Butler, rent averages around $968, according to the site, while just over the county border in Bloomingdale, rent averages $1,074.

Surrounding towns' rents varied by municipality, with Riverdale's average rent recorded at about $1,494; West Milford's rent averaging $920; and Pompton Lakes averaging $1,074.

Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks also breaks down median household income by area in a separate color-coded map. The average household income in the Fayson Lakes area of Kinnelon is about $119,777 while other parts of Kinnelon average $157,011. Butler's average household income is listed at $71,083 and Bloomingdale's average household income is around $75,729, according to the site.
