Bloomingdale Spring Break to Align with Butler Dates

Board of education votes to amend calendar for convenience.

scheduled 2013 spring break will be amended to match up with dates, according to the Bloomingdale Board of Education.

The board voted to change the dates on the district calendar at Monday's board of education meeting. Spring break will be held from April 8 through April 12.

Board President Lauren Grecco said an error was made in the original calendar that had the dates unaligned with the Butler school district's. Since the majority of Bloomingdale students attend and many borough parents would want to schedule vacations when the entire family has off, Grecco said she recommended the change.

"You cannot have two different spring breaks, that's a hardship for parents," she said.

Grecco said she felt the board should notify the parents immediately.

"Better now that we should tell them instead of February of next year," she said.

Board Member Cathy Gurbisz agreed.

"Some people are making those plans for spring break now," she said.

The district plans to send a message to parents through the SwiftReach notification system and postings on the district website, as well as send letters home to parents.
