Butler BOE Hopes to Recommend New High School Principal by May
There are currently more than 40 applicants, and there may be more after the budget is reviewed.
has put together a 14-person principal interview committee, including representatives from the board, the Butler Education Association (BEA), and teachers from both Butler and school districts, to seek a new principal for .

At Thursday's board of education meeting, Superintendant Mario Cardinale announced that by mid-May, they hope to narrow the current 40+ applicants down to 1.

“However, we may find ourselves with more candidates as the budget comes under review,” he said.
Cardinale also addressed the district's budget, saying he wants to anticipate where it will land, but that it will be unclear until after Gov. Chris Christie’s budget address on Tuesday. In general, he noted that the board is looking to decrease expenditures and increase revenues, even considering with Bloomingdale.

“It’s an interesting time,” he said.
Also at Thursday's meeting, Board Secretary Debra Naley-Minenna mentioned that there is room in the budget to fix the school parking lot. The BOE has received one proposal so far for repairs, and will have another next week. “We are excited because fixing this parking lot is long overdue,” she said.
During the meeting, Cardinale also noted that the board is looking into using YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook to help communicate with the public in the near future.
