Butler BOE Member to Be Challenged for 2-Year Term

Incumbents to run for three-year, one-year terms.

Member Julie A. Ruighaver will be challenged for her seat on the board, a two-year unexpired term, by Vito A. Morgese, according to information filed with the Morris County Clerk Tuesday.

Ruighaver, an incumbent, this year.

Three three-year seats on the board are up for re-election and incumbents Board President Matt Lee, Heather Grecco and Michael Puglise filed petitions to run.

Beata Beaudoin, another new board member will run unopposed for her one-year unexpired term.

Candidates wishing to run had to file nominating petitions by a 4 p.m. deadline Tuesday. This year is the first that  will have school board elections in November after  to be tied with the general election.

According to the New Jersey School Boards Association, 468 school districts from throughout the state, representing more than 85 percent of the state's elected school boards, voted to move school board elections to Nov. 6.

"Serving on a school board is a challenging and rewarding form of public service,” John Bulina, NJSBA president, said in a press release. “It certainly is one way to make a profound impact on your community.”
