Assistant Principal Should Lead Kinnelon High, Group Urges

Wayne Merckling will retire as principal in February.

A group of supporters, including teachers, is lobbying for Kinnelon High School Assistant Principal Matthew Scanlon to become the school’s next principal.

Faculty members filled a Board of Education meeting Nov. 21 to express their support for Scanlon getting the job, NorthJersey.com reported.

Principal Wayne Merckling, who has been principal of the school since July 2006, is set to retire in February 2014. Officials are interviewing applicants for the position.
