Manco Glad to Be 'Home' As Butler Vice Principal

James Manco was hired to work alongside Martin Wall as vice principal.

Former athletic director and educator James Manco was hired by the to serve as new vice principal Monday.

Superintendent of Schools Mario Cardinale introduced Manco and said that he was coming back to the school district after spending nearly a year as vice principal in the Rutherford school district, where he worked with former Butler Superintendent Elaine Baldwin. Baldwin "could not have spoken more highly" of him, Cardinale said.

Manco worked in the classrooms at the for about 10 years and served as the district's athletic director for about four years before going to Rutherford, Cardinale said.

"As you know, we were moving quickly in order to fill the administrative positions with good people and I think we've done that with the appointment of both Mr. Wall and Mr. Manco," Cardinale said.

Last month, the board approved the hiring of Wall comes to the district after where he worked as assistant principal.

Cardinale said in addition to hearing a positive recommendation from Baldwin, Manco's other reference checks gave positive feedback as well.

"His other reference checks were equally as outstanding and spoke to his character, as well as his skill and his work ethic," he said.

Manco thanked Cardinale, Wall and the board of education for giving him the opportunity to come back to work in Butler.

"This opportunity, I did not want to pass up, and I feel like I'm home again and that's very important to me and my family," he said.

Manco will begin by August 15 while Wall is expected to begin as principal this week.
