Three New Names on Bloomingdale BOE Ballot

Caraballo, Bloodgood, Schalago to run for Bloomingdale Board of Education in November.

The could have a few new faces on it if three newcomers who have filed petitions to run for election with the Passaic County Clerk are elected in November.

The school board voted to coincide with the general election. As such, those wishing to run were required to file nominating petitions with the Passaic County Clerk's Office by June 5 at 4 p.m.

Charles Caraballo will be running for the one-year unexpired term currently occupied by Cathy Gurbisz, who has not filed a petition to run, according to the Passaic County Clerk's Office. Gurbisz was appointed by the board to fill the seat this year after former member Karen Peterson resigned.

Caraballo has as a member of the audience at several board meetings in the past year.

Two newcomers will also be running for three-year terms, of which three seats will be available. James Schalago, who , is seeking election, as well as Robert Bloodgood.

Three incumbents will also be running for reelection. Board President Lauren Grecco, Board Vice President John Pituch and Thomas Kroncke will all be running for three-year terms, according to the clerk's office.
