U.S. News & World Report is expected to release their 2013 high school rankings Tuesday morning.
Kinnelon High School came out near the top of the list in 2012, ranked No. 39 of New Jersey's 389 public high schools.
In August 2012 the school was ranked as the No. 5 high school in the state by New Jersey Monthly magazine, a jump of 16 spots from the 2010 list.

U.S. News & World Report's rankings are based on student-to-teacher ratios, college readiness and High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) scores.
Kinnelon High School received a 34.6 college rediness index out of a possible 100. There were 26 schools nationally to receive a 100. The publication states that a score of 100 "means that every 12th-grade student during the 2009-2010 academic year in a particular school took and passed at least one AP or IB test before or during their senior year."

The publication listed Butler High School as unranked in the state and nation, and gave it a college rediness index value of 22.2.
According to U.S. News, there are 294 districts with 389 high schools in New Jersey, employing 30,807 teachers educating 421,215 students.
