Cookie Bakery Caters to the Kid in Everyone

My Mommy's Kitchen features a variety of fresh-baked cookies.

This Christmas Eve, millions of boys and girls will leave milk and cookies out for Santa Claus to much on while he delivers their presents.

While it may be easy to leave some name brand cookies out for Santa, there is a place in Butler that caters to everyone’s inner child.

My Mommy’s Kitchen features a selection of fresh-baked cookies everyday.

“Who doesn’t love cookies?” owner Diane Clarke asked. “You can put anything into a cookie and it’ll be good.”

Clarke opened the small bakery on Route 23 in April 2012. She began selling homemade cookies in 2011 and people wanted more. She and her staff bake the cookies on site by hand everyday, using all-natural ingredients. The big cookies sell for $1.50 a piece.

Of course, there are the old standbys of chocolate chip, peanut butter, and oatmeal cookies. But Clarke enjoys being creative with her cookies.

The Almond Joy cookie features coconut, sliced almonds, and semi-sweet chocolate chunks. The Bananas Foster cookies have bananas, glazed walnuts, and semi-sweet chocolate chunks.

The Campfire Classics have graham cracker pieces, mini-marshmallows, and Hershey’s chocolate.

Just like the song, the Take Me Out to the Ballgame cookies feature peanuts, Cracker Jack candy pieces, pretzels, and chocolate chunks.

Other varieties include chai tea spice, fresh ginger, and green tea almond.

Clarke also bakes a healthy selection of cookies, including whole wheat and flourless varieties, brownies, cheesecakes, and breakfast cookies. The breakfast cookies have less than 200 calories and are made with whole wheat.

Among Clarke’s other unique creations are her “monuts,” a baked, not fried, donut made in raspberry, chocolate, or cinnamon varieties, and “mookies,” a combination muffin and cookie.

The bakery has the feel of an old-time kitchen, complete with an old-time refrigerator. Customers can listen to songs of the 1950s while they sit at one of the tables.

“We want the place to feel familiar and like home when you walk in,” Clarke said.
