BBYC Squads Extend Their Winning Streak to 4

Youth teams have big day, despite muddy field conditions.

In Bloomingdale and Butler Youth Club Football action, the Junior Bulldogs took on the Mahwah Junior Thunderbirds at a muddy on Sunday and took three out of the four games from Mahwah.

The D squad offense was led by Brett Redner, who rushed for 98 yards on the day, while Alexander Orth (six tackles) and Mark Finelli (four tackles) were tops for the defense. The Junior Bulldogs ran out of time on their final drive and the final score wound up being 15-8, Mahwah.

The C squad showed they had come to play, defeating the Junior Thunderbirds 42-0. Offensively, they had the tandem of Matt Wolowitz (75 yards, 2 TDs) and Jacob Luciani (49 yards, 2 TDs) while on the defensive side of the ball, Christopher Dino (5 tackles) and Nicholas Perrotta (3 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) helped fuel the shutout victory and extending their record to 4-0.

On the B squad, long scoring plays were the order of the day, with both Sean Centinaro (runs of 67, 96 and a 65 yard punt return resulting in 3 TDs) and Patrick Brady (runs of 31 and 68 yards for 2 TDs) having over 100 yards. The defensive side of the B squad showed what team work really meant, as no less than fifteen different players had multi-tackle games. The combination led to a 33-12 victory over Mahwah, as the B squad also extended their record to 4-0.

The finale of Sunday's football was A squad, who finished off the Thunderbirds 27-6. The team effort was piloted by Cole Rhinesmith, who had a 50-yard TD run along with a TD pass to Daniel Castiglia, who also led the team in tackles. Further defensive gems were Christian Hold's fumble recovery and Daniel Polons' interception, as the A squad improved their record to 3-1.
