BBYC Takes Three of Four From Lincoln Park

BBYC plays final home games of the season.

This weekend saw the Bloomingdale and Butler Youth Club's final home football games of the regular season.

Hosting the Lincoln Park Raiders at Memorial Field, the Bulldogs defeated the Raiders in three of the four games. The work horse of the D Squad offense was Brett Redner, who rushed 15 times on the day and completed the only pass attempted.

The defensive effort was more spread out, as Rocco Presti, Mark Finelli, Matthew Smith and Matthew DiGerolamo all had multiple tackles. But it was not to be D Squad's day, as they were defeated by the Raiders 27-0.

Looking to come back after their first defeat of the season the week before, the C squad was firing on all cylinders. Quarterback Evan Smith was three for four on the day, including a 48-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Brady, while the ground game featured Joseph Walsh (9 rushes, 20 yards, 1 TD), Matthew Wolowitz (7 rushes, 63 yards and 1 TD) and Jacob Luciani (7 rushes, 26 yards). Wolowitz (fumble recovery) and Brady (interception) also helped out on the defensive side, which was led by Christopher Dino (4 tackles, 1 sack) and Jason Polons (4 tackles). All of this added up to a 21-6 defeat of Lincoln Park and a 5-1 record.

The B squad offense was mostly about the running game, with a three-pronged attack of Sean Centinaro (5 rushes, 188 yards, 3 TDs), Joseph Basante (13 rushes, 51 yards, 1 TD) and Patrick Brady (14 rushes, 45 yards). But this doesn't mean quarterback Declan Minogue had an off day, as he had a 35-yard touchdown throw to Centinaro, along with a 54-yard kickoff return, a fumble recovery and a sack.

Bastante (7 tackles, 1 pass defended) and Centinaro (6 tackles, 1 pass defended) were also tops in the defensive statistics, leading to a 25-13 victory over the Raiders, bringing them to 5-0-1 on the season. Finishing off the day's slate of youth football, the A squad was led offensively by Darius Soriano (5 rushes, 79 yards, 2 TDs) and Danny Castiglia (6 rushes, 75 yards, 1 TD). Castiglia was also a standout on defense (4 tackles, 2 passes defended) as were Michael Warren (4 tackles) and Cory Mack (4 tackles).

The Bulldogs wrapped up the day by sinking the Raiders 27-0 and pushing their record to 4-2.
