Bloomingdale Tennis Player Wins Regional Championship

Brittany LaBruna was named the conference rookie of the week three times this season.

Brittany LaBruna, a freshman attending William Paterson University, won the U.S. Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Northeast Regional singles title Sept. 30.

LaBruna, a Bloomingdale resident, is 13-0 at first singles for the Pioneers this fall, including a 6-4, 6-4 victory against The College of New Jersey's Katie Buchbinder Sept. 21. It is believed that her win marked the first time in more than two decades that perennial power TCNJ suffered a first-singles loss against New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) competition. For her efforts, LaBruna has been named the NJAC Rookie of the Week three times this season.

LaBruna will play in the National Small College Championships later on this month in Florida.
